In-Person Interpretation Services

Wherever you go or travel, you may encounter language barriers that will hamper effective communication. Communication has always been essential, and its importance is just growing in the present-day world. In-person interpreting is a service that enables face-to-face communication between people who speak different languages.

Interpreting services are not used exclusively by large corporations: many individuals and small businesses with varying needs benefit from seamless communication in this way. Suppose you find yourself in the following situations:

  • The information that needs to be communicated is sensitive (it can be of medical, legal, or financial nature), so you cannot connect via phone or video conference.
  • You need interpreting for an individual, for instance, for a patient, where you will probably need to read body language and build trust.
  • There is a demo or any other technical event where a foreign specialist will explain to your workers how to handle the new equipment.

Benefits for Small Businesses

Small businesses dominate the world! However, not all of them make the most of their communication with foreign partners. We can mend it by offering quick professional help. You can use our on-site interpretation, as well as over-the-phone and remote interpreting services and translation of any documentation that will connect you with international businesses. Benefit from HumanTranslation’s affordable solutions – and never worry about language barriers!

Benefits for Individuals and Families

You may need to communicate with any foreign specialist or official, and this may happen all of a sudden. No matter whether you are far away and need remote services or if it is a face-to-face setting that is desirable, we will find a solution for you. Don’t hesitate to contact our manager, and you are sure to find a solution – sometimes in a matter of minutes!

You May Require Interpreting If You:

  • Are present at a court hearing and need to effectively communicate with the other party
  • Need to be present at the hospital or business board conducted in a foreign language
  • Have to talk to international officials
  • Must be present at a police interrogation as a suspect
  • Need to train a team of foreign technical specialists
  • Want to hire a person from abroad
  • Are going to hold an online event with international participants

Kinds of In-Person Interpreting We Provide

Consecutive interpreting

This is a kind of communication when the speaking person interrupts his or her speech for the message to be interpreted. It may be used in formal settings, like interpreting for a delegation of foreign people, or in more sensitive situations, like in a conversation between a patient and a doctor.

Simultaneous interpreting

The interpreter speaks along with the speaking person, giving a reasonable delay to hear what is being said.

Whispered interpretation

This is a kind of simultaneous interpreting that does not require any tech side: the interpreter is located near the listener and whispers the message he/she hears into the listener’s ear.

Sight interpretation

This is the situation when the interpreting specialist needs to read a written text and tell the listener what it is about in greater or smaller detail. You can be escorting a foreign guest at an exhibition, for example, and he may want to know what is written on the stand or equipment.

Liaison interpretation

This is a conversation of any kind between two interlocutors (a meeting, interview, and things like that) that speak different languages where the interpreter ensures seamless communication.

In-Person Interpreting: Advantages

Why invite a person on-site if anything, including interpretation services, can be on your smartphone? And this is true that face-to-face interpretation services may seem obsolete. However, we can mention a number of advantages of this “old-fashioned” method that you may find really valuable for your purposes:

Reading body language

As you probably know, 70 to 90 percent of communication is non-verbal, which means that the message is easier to capture if you see the person. That is the reason why the interpreter will do a better job in 100% of cases if he or she can see the speaker. Over-the-phone interpreting is a very challenging task, but on-site interpreting will be much more accurate.

Healthcare settings

Patient comfort is essential! And you will probably agree that the patient will feel much more comfortable if there is an interpreter in the room who can tell the doctor about all the patient’s worries and doubts and ask any questions to put his or her mind at ease. Effective communication with the doctor may be the key point of healing in some cases, so be sure to comfort the patient in this way.

Eliminating confusion

Some people are confused to ask questions directly (especially in a foreign language), but they can do so much easier if there is an interpreter who seems to ask the question instead. This helps the audience feel much more relaxed. What is more, there are no problems with Internet communication when poor connection may prevent the attendee from having his say.

Modest organization requirements

You don’t need any special equipment, fast and stable internet connection, or technicians to get the process going. All you need is an empty conference hall and the people.

Our Staff

We believe that quality begins with choosing the right specialists for the job. But how do we choose them?

  • All of our interpreters have relevant credentials and training.
  • But that is not enough: we have our own vetting procedures to make sure the expert can provide high-quality interpreting services in any setting, even under pressure.
  • We check the specialist’s proficiency in both languages – the one interpreted from and interpreted into.
  • We make sure the expert specializes in a particular subject matter to be able to interpret in special settings.
  • The interpreter we contract should also be able to deal with dialects.

We at HumanTranslation can also provide specialists who will interpret the message in sign language. Contact our manager to find out all the details and ask any questions you may have.

In-Person Interpreting for Legal Matters

In-person interpretation is typically needed for all kinds of immigration issues when the person is going to immigrate for some time or for life – to live, study, or work. We can help you with live interviews, as well as any written communication or phone conversations with such individuals. You may be an immigration law firm, an individual, or a professional – we are always glad to help!

In-Person Interpreting in Medical Settings

Why do you need to rely on professional medical interpretation services if the patient speaks some English or has a relative that can speak English? The thing is that a professional interpreter knows all the latest terminology in the medical field and can communicate the message clearly and effectively. Are you sure you will get the same result with untrained people?

Remember that you may face a claim if the patient feels that the procedure he went through was not communicated effectively. A professional interpreter is a safe solution that may save hours of proceedings and huge costs.

What makes a good translation? First of all, a high-quality source text. If this is a marketing piece of translation, for instance, and the original seems to convey some vague message that is hard to understand for the translator, it will be just as vague for the reader. Therefore, the customer should be prepared to work on the text to get a really good translation, and the translator should be ready to ask the customer to do so. This will make cooperation really beneficial – contrary to the “I-need-the-translation-quickly” approach that may not bear the fruit you want.

Ask the client about the country for which the translation is intended. The Arabic dialect required for Saudi Arabia will differ from the one appropriate for Egypt or Lebanon.

Most Arabic translations will require transcreation due to major cultural differences between English and Arab countries.

The target audience will determine the level of formality required in Arabic texts, so be sure to find out all the required information from the client.

The more important the translation, the higher quality should be agreed upon with the customer. High quality is achieved by editing, sometimes by several editors; it may add up to the cost, but it will finally pay off.
