Sworn Translation Services

HumanTranslation renders sworn translation services, as well as notarization, legalization, apostille, and certified translation. In some countries, certified and sworn translations are the same thing. Anyway, you can count on us as your reliable translation partner who can provide sworn translation at a reasonable price within tight deadlines if necessary.

What is a sworn translation?

This is a service package that includes providing the original along with the translation bearing the translator’s signature, seal, initials, and date. It is done by an accredited sworn translator, and the translation will be just as valid as the original document.

We can send the package to you by e-mail. But official institutions usually require a hard copy.

If you need your documents for the UK, you need to have them notarized instead. There is no “sworn translation” notion there, only notarization.

Which documents need to be processed by sworn translators?

These may include any official documents that you submit to educational, governmental, public, financial, or legal authorities which make decisions on the basis of the information available in them.

Here are some examples of document types:

  • Birth or death certificates
  • Marriage or divorce certificates
  • Passports
  • Driving licenses
  • ID documents
  • Diplomas or certificates
  • Financial reports
  • Extracts
  • Contracts/agreements

We provide services to individuals and legal entities alike, and you can rely on us if you need trusted- ity translations for personal projects or business growth.

Sworn translations for higher education institutions

We at HumanTranslation can provide services to international students who apply for degree-awarding programs at foreign universities and other higher education institutions. They usually need sworn translations for their personal documents, as well as evidence of previous education, like transcripts and letters of reference. As the number of students who prefer studying abroad increases, the demand for sworn translations of this kind becomes ever higher.

Sworn translations for the government institutions

Government institutions may require a whole package of documents from you to be submitted very quickly, and that’s where we come in. We will translate individual documents or company documents accurately and on time. We have a pool of sworn translators across the globe in different time zones who will provide the service really quickly.

Will I get the sworn translation recognized internationally?

Unfortunately, this is not so in most cases. You typically get a translation tailored to meet the requirements of one particular country and, more specifically, the requesting authority. Internationally recognized documents do exist, like a driver’s license that comes in two languages, for example. But this is more often an exception than the rule.

What makes a good translation? First of all, a high-quality source text. If this is a marketing piece of translation, for instance, and the original seems to convey some vague message that is hard to understand for the translator, it will be just as vague for the reader. Therefore, the customer should be prepared to work on the text to get a really good translation, and the translator should be ready to ask the customer to do so. This will make cooperation really beneficial – contrary to the “I-need-the-translation-quickly” approach that may not bear the fruit you want.

Ask the client about the country for which the translation is intended. The Arabic dialect required for Saudi Arabia will differ from the one appropriate for Egypt or Lebanon.

Most Arabic translations will require transcreation due to major cultural differences between English and Arab countries.

The target audience will determine the level of formality required in Arabic texts, so be sure to find out all the required information from the client.

The more important the translation, the higher quality should be agreed upon with the customer. High quality is achieved by editing, sometimes by several editors; it may add up to the cost, but it will finally pay off.
