Language Tips:
The document you are translating is hardly the first company document translated into that language. It means that the company has a voice and tone peculiar to its brand identity. When you read tips for translators, you are often advised to be concise. Anyway, this is not a tip to be taken literally. On the one hand, you have to balance between the dry and flowery way of expression. On the other hand, sentences sometimes remind fillers inserted into the text just to make it longer – and if you try to make them concise, you suddenly find that there is no thought left to be expressed… And you have to write something in your CAT tool box. What can you do in this case? Well, you have the context. Add some thought here from above or below text, and you will kill two birds with one stone: stay concise and meaningful.
