Estonian Translation – Estonian & English Language Pair

English to Estonian and Estonian to English

Do you need Estonian translation services? Just send your file to our manager – probably with some comments. We at HumanTranslation have all the infrastructure, so expect to get back a high-quality translation. Our specialists dealing with translations, editing, and proofreading are the pillars of excellent quality, while our managing staff is on guard of keeping within the timelines and budget set.

We have a pool of experienced translators who have been working with us for a long time and have excellent customer references. If you entrust your work to us, you may be sure that each of our experts:

  • Has a degree and additional credentials that testify to their professional skills
  • Has an area of expertise to handle work beyond general translations, so we can entrust highly-specialized texts to him or her
  • Is constantly working on his/her skills, including undergoing in-house peer review of a random piece

We at HumanTranslation use all the state-of-the-industry computer tools to simplify the efforts of our specialists, but we focus on manual translation done by human translators. We believe that a text that will be read by humans should be produced by humans.

Certified Translation

Looking for certified Estonian translation services? We at HumanTranslation can render these, and we would like to list the differences from ordinary translation for you to keep in mind:

  • It takes a certified translator to yield a certified translation
  • Certified documents can sacrifice the beauty of the expression for the sake of accuracy and completeness
  • You will get your translation with the translator’s statement to certify the absence of omissions and inaccuracies in the resulting document. The statement is signed and sealed, so you can submit it to the official institution you need.

Language Facts

  1. The first ever book in Estonian to be printed was a collection of prayers published in 1535.
  2. The Estonian uses Roman script plus some diacritic signs.
  3. It is the language of the Finno-Ugric group, so its close relatives are Hungarian and Finnish.
  4. Estonian is by no means a homogeneous language: its northern and southern versions differ a lot, and it has 8 dialects and a mind-blowing 117 subdialects!
  5. Estonian (or Eesti keel) is one of the most difficult languages to master for English speakers – and no wonder: 14 cases of nouns are not that easy to handle. It takes 5th place after Japanese, Chinese, Korean, and Arabic. However, if you speak Finnish, expect far fewer problems with Estonian!
  6. There is a popular joke about the country: it has no sex and no future. The Estonian language really has no gender or future tense, hence the play on words (that also refers to Estonia’s decreasing population).
  7. Despite being a Baltic country, Estonia’s language bears no similarities to Latvian or Lithuanian.

Language Tips:

If the quality of the source text is poor, tell the customer about it at once. Sometimes he will agree to make corrections, sometimes not. But he should be aware of that fact. Of course, an experienced translator can improve the source text quality (and even considerably), but a good translation still requires a good source text in most cases.

There are two useful questions you can ask the customer before you start translation: about the intended use of the target text and the people that will read it. It always helps if you know you are doing your job in a particular format for particular readers.

What does the target audience want from your text? Answer in one word. It may be hard or easy, but it surely gives the key.
