Translation from English to Norwegian and from Norwegian to English

English to Norwegian and Norwegian to English

Are you stuck with a document you need to translate from or into Norwegian? Just send it to our manager and take care of something more important, while we do the job for you. We at HumanTranslation specialize in ensuring a hassle-free experience for our busy business customers, and we know that they often need “this document translated yesterday”.

We have a pool of professionals to choose from, and our choice is not only about availability. A good translator has to match a number of quite stringent criteria to work in our team:

  •         A degree in translation or some equivalent education
  •         Credentials that prove specialization in a certain area (a degree in that area, practical experience of work, or just “it’s 15 years since the translator has been successfully handling the documents in the field”)
  •         A history of good feedback from customers (and later our editors)
  •         Overall discipline (working in a team if needed, ability to meet deadlines, following the glossaries and guidelines provided)
  •         Regular professional improvement and participation in our in-house peer work reviews

Following these criteria helped us form a pool of real experts we can rely on. Choose HumanTranslation as your language service provider and see for yourself!

Need English to Norwegian translation services? We have native speakers who can render an accurate translation within a short term.

We also provide Norwegian-to-English translation services that constitute quite a considerable share of our day-to-day work.

Certified Translation

Do you need a certified translation straight away because your official institution needs the documents right now? Don’t waste your time – just contact our manager and get your files assigned very quickly.

You will get back not only the translation but also the translator’s statement (signed and sealed) that attests to the target document’s accuracy and completeness, and this package actually constitutes what we call “certified translation”.

Language Facts

  •         There are about five million speakers of the Norwegian language, most of which are naturally found in Norway.
  •         The written form of the language has two official variants, though one of them is used by just 10% of the population.
  •         If you can speak and understand Norwegian, you will also be able to talk to the Swedes and Danish, but not to Icelanders – even though the two languages are related linguistically.
  •         Norwegian has one rare feature that is mostly found in Asian languages, such as Chinese: it is a tonal language.
  •         Norwegian uses a Latin alphabet with three additional characters: æ, ø and å.
  •         Norwegians are stubborn when it comes to standardization of local dialects, eastern and western ones, and prefer to stick to them.
  •         Norwegians make up a lot of compound words (noun + noun) on the go, and not all of them are even recorded in dictionaries. Sometimes, it gives rise to really long words! The country immersed in half a year of darkness has its own national entertainments, and finding mistakes in compound words is one of them!

Language Tips:

One sentence should not contain more than one thought – especially if it is complex!

Long enumerations (of company services, for example) within one sentence work badly as well. One innocent technique is to give the reader a small task like “mark those you may be interested in”, otherwise the sentence will just leave an impression of “a company that does a lot of something”.

Avoid idioms, clichés, and jargon of any kind. Using a cliché seems to separate you from the reader with a wall, while idioms and jargon may bring you too close. A language is a tool for setting a distance, so try to feel the appropriate one and stick to it.

The less ambiguity is found in your translation, the more vivid picture the reader will draw. If you say “film”, you can imagine those moving pictures on the screen or protective film on products sent by post. And if you mean the first notion, say “movie”, which refers to the right picture at once.

Use machine back translation to check your work! When you are through, just copy the target text and paste it into google translate. The obvious mistakes will be seen at once.
